Dress Week 3: Cutouts and Polka Dots

This dress had me at hello.
Dress:  eShakti (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Sometimes clothes just speak to me, and in this case, the dress was yelling, "PICK ME! PICK ME!"  Okay, clothes talk to me a lot - it's a problem.  LOL

I love the cutout detail of this - it shows just enough midriff without making it the central focus.  It also gives the dress a modernity that blend really well with the 1950s shape and cut of the dress.

Necklace:  Torrid
Bracelets:  The Limited
The shape of this dress flatters curves.  The sweetheart neckline adds a bit of sex appeal which is perfectly balanced by the knee-length hem.

Rather than play up the inherent sweetness of this dress, I decided to give it a little bit of a more womanly feel while adding just the slightest touch of edge that I love.  The chain-link necklace mixed with the lace clutch is for me the perfect mix - all lady, but with a bit of attitude!  ;-D
Clutch:  Jason Wu for Target (Available on ebay here and here)
How would you style this dress?

P.S.  eShakti was kind enough to provide an exclusive promo code for you, my dear readers!  Use code 'stylecases' to save 10% off your order. This code can be combined with most other codes and offers, and it can be re-used as often as you want now through 5/11/2014.

Black and White Delight

Hi everyone!   Holiday hustle and bustle and a hectic work schedule has kept me too busy for blogging the last several days, but I'm back today with this black and white combo.  It's also my 100th blog post!  Thanks for joining me on my new adventure!

Black and white is a perennial favorite.  It never really goes out of fashion as a color combination, but it's having a serious moment in fashion right now.  It was all over Fall 2012's fashion runways and is expected to be a huge trend for Spring 2013 as many designers featured the graphic color combination during their spring shows.

Falling for Camel

One of my favorite autumnal color palettes is camel and ivory.  It's sophisticated and rich looking, but what I love most is the softness of the two colors together.  In a season of burgundy, navy, and forest green, camel and ivory are fall's pastels.

So, today, I paired camel pants that I recently purchased with ivory favorites - a sequined blouson-style top and blazer.
Blazer:  The Limited
Ring:  H&M (Available in stores

The orange bag adds a pop of fall color.
What is your favorite fall color combination?  What colors do you like to wear with camel?

Fashion by Bob Ross: Fall Color Inspiration

Happy Friday!!
Purse:  The Limited
Shoes:  Target
Today, I was very inspired by fall colors.  I have always loved watching Bob Ross do his amazing artwork on "The Joy of Painting", and I especially love the autumnal nature scenes that he painted.

The mix of browns, yellows, oranges, reds, and greens is just so lovely!
So with all these gorgeous fall colors in mind, I paired my cognac coated denim with a silky citrine blouse, chocolate brown blazer, and orange bag.

Pants:  Target (Available here)
I got these jeans around the same time as my black ones, but I've had more trouble deciding what to wear with them.  I don't have a lot of browns and warmer colors in my wardrobe, but I was drawn to these pants and their possibilities.

I'd like to find a sweater or blazer that works better with the cognac than this deep brown, but sometimes you have to work with what you have.
Ring:  The Icing
I added this cool snake ring and burgundy nails for one more pop of fall color.

Happy Fall.  Enjoy all the "happy little trees"!!  ;-)
