These Boots Were Made for Walkin'

Hi everyone!  Hope you all had a great day!
Skirt:  Target (Available here)
Blazer:  New York & Company
Today was still a little chilly in my area, but I finally decided it was time to skip tights!!!  I went with my knee-high boots for warmth, but it was so freeing to be able to wear a skirt without tights!!!

Tights can be fun, but I get lazy and find them to be too much work sometimes.

Tank:  Old Navy Petites (Available here)
Boots:  Payless (old)
Tote:  The Limited
I paired my boots with a brocade A-line skirt and simple tank and blazer.  The tank was a little low-cut for work, so I added the scarf for coverage and a little extra warmth during the work day.
Scarf:  Paul Smith (15+ years old)
Earrings:  The Limited (Similar here)
Removing the scarf makes the outfit perfect for transitioning to dinner or drinks after work.
Ring:  Purchased at local jewelry show
Howlite necklace:  eBay

Make it Work (For Work)!

Happy Thursday, everyone!!
Blouse:  Ann Taylor Petites (Sold out on-line, see here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
I have decided that even though this blouse isn't very corporate, it's too fun not to wear it to work.  Wearing clothes that make you smile makes the work day a little brighter!

I think to make a top like this work-appropriate, it's important to keep the look overall look simple and toned down.
Jacket:  The Limited (old) (Similar here)
Heels:  Target (old)
Moonstone earrings:  Gift
Shoes:  Target (old)
Today, I paired the top with a simple black cropped jacket and my new periwinkle skinny pants.  I wore the more simple black heels for week to keep the look a little bit more conservative.

For an evening out, I would go with the lace-up shoes and add bolder jewelry and a fun clutch.

Tote:  The Limited
Cuff:  New York & Company (old)

B&W Colorblocking

Dress:  New York & Company
Hi everyone!

Today I paired this sporty black and white shift dress with opaque black tights and wedge heels boots for a comfy, but put together look.

I love the black and white trend for fall as I could live in this classic color combination.

Tote:  The Limited (Available here)
Tights:  Torrid (Available here)
Boots:  Target (Available here)
See this dress styled for warmer weather/climates here.
Necklaces:  The Limited
Ring:  Local jewelry show
Do you like wearing black and white, or do you prefer color?

Crying Foulard

Traditional menswear-inspired fabrics and looks were very popular on fall runways.  Personally, I love this trend as I enjoy mixing feminine and masculine pieces in my wardrobe.
Jacket:  The Limited (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Similar here)
Clutch:  1980s Vintage
This foulard (pronounced fu-lard) print jacket takes traditional men's tie fabric and turns it into a versatile lightweight blazer.
Purse Necklace:  1960s Vintage Judith Leiber
Bracelets:  World Market; The Limited
Rings:  H&M (Available in stores)
The flowy blouse and heels keep the look feminine, and I like the mix of burgundies and reds in the shoes, blazer, and heels.

I do think the top was a little long for the jacket, making the look a little sloppy.  Next time, I would wear this jacket with a shorter or tucked-in top.
Blouse:  Gap
Tank:  Target (Similar here)
Shoes:  Target (Similar here)
Would you wear the menswear trend?

More Fall 2012 Trends: Reptile Prints

Today, I had a departmental meeting at work, so I wanted a more conservative look.

I opted for my black suit (see the suit styled differently here) and a cowl-neck top.
Suit:  The Limited Black Collection ((Similar blazer:  here; Similar pants:  here)
Tote:  The Limited (Available here)
Reptile prints are huge for fall, and I love how this top has a subtle snake print.
Top:  Target (old)
Bracelet:  eBay (Similar: here)
To continue with the snake theme, I added this fun coiled snake bracelet.  No matter how simple or modest you go with a look, I think it's important to always add a personal touch.  The snake bracelet and red tote add personality and keep the look from being too boring.
Some casual snake print pieces for fall:
The Limited snake print jeans
Target snake embossed satchel
