Snowy Whites

So, yes, today's look is COMPLETELY impractical for the weather...and, to be honest, it's really not the most practical outfit for real life either!
Skirt:  Custom
Here's how much I care about that. 0.

I never really stopped loving to play dress-up, and sometimes it's just fun to put on a big poofy skirt!

I tend to have a more sophisticated sensibility, and I think most of my wardrobe is fairly practical.  But I also love clothes that are romantic.  Tulle skirts are so romantic and fantastical to me.  And, while they aren't the most practical style for most of my life activities, I have made a place for them in my wardrobe.

Blazer:  LOFT Petites
Booties:  Target
With all the snow outside, I was inspired to come up with a winter white look.  I thought of my ivory tulle skirt, and it all started to come together.  This was my first of three tulle skirts, and it definitely packs the most poof! :-D

I added a nude-to-me slip to work double duty as a tank and threw on an off-white jacquard floral blazer as a finishing touch.

Slip:  The Limited (Available here)
Clutch:  Purchased at Titanic Museum Gift Shop, Branson
The winter whites are accented with a Tree of Life necklace and a floral clutch with wood accents - you know...to help bring in spring! The snow makes for pretty pictures, but I'd just as soon leave the cold to the penguins and polar bears!
Necklace:  Target

Eyeglass frames:  Valentino
I would have loved some strappy gold heels with this look, but since I don't own any, I settled on the sturdier option of my nude-to-me booties.

I love the mix of whites and beige in the look, and it inspired me to play around with the coloring of the pictures to create different effects.
Fun photo shoot, but now I need to figure out some place to wear this! :-D

Do you have any tulle skirts or other impractical pieces in your wardrobe that you just can't live without?

I Vote for Sequins, Velvet, and Tweed

Hi everyone!  Hope everyone got out and voted today!
Jacket:  The Limited (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Today, I selected my new velvet pants (see here) with my black bow-front blouse and this lovely tweed jacket.  I love the silver threads mixed sewn through the blazer and the unexpected silver sequin detail on the shoulders.  I also love the mix of textures and fabrics.
Blouse:  Old Navy
Ring:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
My outfit today is very reminiscent of another recent outfit (see here).  I'm loving fun skinny black pants (tuxedo stripes, velvet, etc.) mixed with modern-looking tweed jackets.

I'm hunting for a light pink or mint top to wear with this jacket.  I love winter white mixed with pastels in the winter time.
Bracelet:  The Limited (old)
Today, I kept the overall look neutral in black and ivory with just a subtle pop of color with the burgundy shoe.  I added a two-tone chain bracelet and a bow ring for a little feminine charm.
Purse:  New York & Company (Similar here)

Fall 2012 Fashion Trends: Black and Winter White

Many of fall's fashion trends are very easy to wear and are variations on classic looks.

Black and white were popular neutrals on the fall runways, whether worn separately or together.  Black and white is easily my favorite color combination.  It's a classic combination that's easy to wear, always looks chic, and can easily be transformed to fit a variety of moods.

From the runway:
3.1 Phillip Lim look
3.1 Phillip Lim look
 More affordable looks:
The Limited colorblock top
Black and white suiting was quite popular on the runway, continuing with the colorblocking trend. The color combination is crisp and fresh and so graphic and interesting. Loving suiting and black and white, I am very excited about this fall trend!
Eloquii trimmed blazer
Black and white suiting is easy to wear and will never really go out of style so it makes for good investment pieces. I am jonesing for a new white tuxedo blazer wih black lapels. If I can find some black pants with tuxedo stripes, all the better.
Simply Be tuxedo blazer
Winter white or ivory is softer and more flattering for most skin types than pure white. The old rules of no white agree labor day has long since been abandoned. In fact, white dresses were everywhere for fall.

Do you like the black and white suiting trend?  Would you wear a winter white dress for fall?
