Simply Navy

I love the simplicity of today's look.  There's nothing overly special about any of the particular pieces, but the long block of navy just feels so streamlined and sophisticated.
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Blazer:  The Limited (Available here)
Wrap top:  The Limited (Available here)
Purse:  The Limited
I do love my wrap-style tops, real or faux, and this one is super comfortable as the front is woven, but the back is modal knit.
Heels:  Target (Available here)
Necklace worn as a bracelet:  The Limited
I wore this outfit to work yesterday with the navy heels, but I also really like the neon yellow pumps.  The navy heels finish off the clean monochromatic look, but the yellow pumps add a fun and unexpected pop of color to this simple outfit.
Heels:  Target (Available in other colors here)
Tank:  Target
(Available in assorted colors here)
Monochromatic looks were a popular trend on spring's runways (see here).  While these looks were usually shown in bright colors, navy is a more toned-down way to wear the trend for the office.
Earrings:  The Limited (Available here)

Stripes & Polka Dots

Today's work look takes a nautical inspiration.  I love playing with prints, and mixing stripes and polka dots is a fun and simple way to do it.

Skirt:  The Limited
Tank:  Forever 21+ (Available here)
The striped A-line skirt (it has pockets!) complements the coral dotted tank.  The navy blazer and pumps pull the look together and make it perfect for work.
Blazer:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available in other colors here)
Necklace:  The Limited (Available here)
I love that the color blocking on this necklace also creates a striped effect, adding to the pattern mixing of this look.
Satchel:  The Limited (Similar here)

Going Bold in the Workplace

Today, I paired my red pants with a geometric print tunic.  I toned down the look for work by adding a navy blazer.
Blouse:  The Limited (No longer available on-line; May be available in stores)
Blazer:  The Limited (Available here)
Bright colors and bold prints are great, but wearing too much of either in a more conservative work place can be tricky.  Mixing bold colors and prints with neutrals in classic shapes, like this navy blazer, is a great way to show confidence and sass without being too extreme.
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Heels:  Target (Available in other colors here)
Snake bracelet:  eBay (Similar here)
Necklace:  The Limited (No longer on-line; May be available in stores)
A delicate necklace, stud earrings, and a statement bracelet accentuate the look but don't go too bold.
Earrings:  The Limited (No longer available on-line; may be available in stores)
Clutch:  Vintage

Preppy Color

Hi everyone!

Hard to believe it's been a week since I posted.  Between the kids and me, this has been one sickly household the last few weeks!!! I hope you all are staying healthy!

I have decided to postpone the rest of my Spring fashion forecast for now.  I will have more spring preview some time in February.  It is bitter cold in my neck of the woods, so even though my mind is on spring colors and styles, the temperatures are forcing me back to the reality that we still have a lot of winter left!!!
Tee:  The Limited (Available here)
Blazer:  The Limited (Similar here)
Corduroy pants:  Forenza by The Limited (Similar here)
Shoes:  Target
I actually wore today's look last casual Friday.  I wore the green flats to work for comfort, but I've also shown the look with navy heels.  The green flats add a fun pop of color that add to the look's classic preppy vibe.

Heels:  Target (Available here)
Bracelets:  Express, Zoppini
I personally prefer neutral pants to color, but it's definitely fun to experiment.  While this look is winter appropriate, it does play on two big trends for spring - stripes (which I've already discussed here and here) and COLOR (more on this trend later)!
Bag:  Target (old) (Similar here)
Do you like wearing color to beat the winter blahs?
