Keep It Classic

Happy Hump Day!!
Trench:  c/o eShakti (Similar here)
I'm so happy this week is over halfway over!  I feel like I'm fighting off an upper respiratory infection, and the infection is winning! :-(

But time waits for no woman.  So, I'm trudging through with my eyes on the prize that is the weekend!!

Pants:  The Limited (Similar here and here)
Heels:  Target (old)
Clutch:  The Limited
For today's post, I'm sharing yesterday's work look.  The weather has been cool and rainy, so I'm relying on layers to get through the spring chill.

I haven't worn these red pants or trench in a while, so they felt new to me again.  I love the mix of neutrals mixed with gold accents, and the clutch helps tie the look together.

Cuff:  New York & Company
Often for work, less is more.  Simple classic pieces, like a cardigan, trench, and skinnies, feel streamlined and professional for the office, while the red pants add a fun pop of color that prevents the look from feeling too conventional.

How do you keep your wardrobe classics feeling fresh?

Fashion Favorites: Red Pants 7 Ways

While black pants will always be my favorite, red pants make a fun and confident statement.

Looking over the ways I've worn my red pants over the last year, I find that I usually pair them with other neutrals.  I opt for modern graphics and cat prints to complement the bold red.

Here are some of the ways I've worn my red pants over the last year:
Mod Squad
Go Bold, Go Casual
Put On Your Dancing Shoes
Going Bold in the Workplace
Urban Safari
Stripes Week:  Red-y for Work
12 Days of Holiday:  Cozy Days
Would you wear red pants, and how would you pair them?

12 Days of Holiday: Cozy Days

Today's holiday-inspired outfit is great for running last-minute errands, staying cozy at work, or even for sipping cocoa by the fire (wearing slippers instead of boots).
Sweater:  NY&CO. (Similar here and here)
Pants:  The Limited (Similar here)
I used a brooch to close the sweater, but I still kept the fit loose and easy.  I only had one brooch, but using three or four brooches with a similar feel would create a unique look.
Blouse:  The Limited
Boots:  Fergalicious by Fergie (Available here)
Rings:  The Limited (Available here and Similar here)
Brooch: Old (Retailer unknown)
To add a little more holiday bling, I added a few rhinestone rings and earrings (sorry for no-close-ups).  The overall look is somewhat casual, but polished, and VERY cozy!
Clutch:  The Limited (Available here)

Urban Safari

Happy Friday, everyone!!!

Today's post features an outfit that I wore to work yesterday.
Blazer:  The Limited (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available in other colors here)
I paired red pants with a black wrap top, camel blazer, and leopard print heels.

I originally conceived of this outfit with just a simple black silky tee, but I decided that I wanted a slightly longer and more detailed top.  The pics with the plain top are from this past weekend (before my haircut).

Top:  Old Navy Petites
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Purse:  Express (Similar here)
Necklace:  Forever 21 (Available here)
I love that this look has a slight safari feel with the camel jacket and leopard print.  The red makes the look perfect for navigating the urban jungle!  ;-)
Blouse:  The Limited (Similar here)
Tank:  Old Navy Petites (Similar here)
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Would you pair red with leopard print?

Going Bold in the Workplace

Today, I paired my red pants with a geometric print tunic.  I toned down the look for work by adding a navy blazer.
Blouse:  The Limited (No longer available on-line; May be available in stores)
Blazer:  The Limited (Available here)
Bright colors and bold prints are great, but wearing too much of either in a more conservative work place can be tricky.  Mixing bold colors and prints with neutrals in classic shapes, like this navy blazer, is a great way to show confidence and sass without being too extreme.
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Heels:  Target (Available in other colors here)
Snake bracelet:  eBay (Similar here)
Necklace:  The Limited (No longer on-line; May be available in stores)
A delicate necklace, stud earrings, and a statement bracelet accentuate the look but don't go too bold.
Earrings:  The Limited (No longer available on-line; may be available in stores)
Clutch:  Vintage

Put on your dancing shoes!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Blouse:  Ann Taylor Petites (No longer available on-line; see here)
Today's evening look would be perfect for dancing. This top makes me want to shimmy every time I put it on!

Previously, I have worn this top to work under blazers, but I always thought it was more appropriate as an evening top.
Clutch:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Paired with red pants, a polka dot clutch and simple stilettos, this outfit is fun and says that you don't take yourself too seriously.
Bangle:  The Limited
What would you wear to go dancing?
