Taming of the Shoe

Fun shoes are a great way of adding a little panache to a simple look.
Dress:  The Limited
I had planned on "taming" these purple faux python heels by styling them with a simple monochromatic look, but everything I was coming up with reminded me too much of this look, and I wanted something that felt fresh.
Heels:  Anne Michelle
Cardigan:  LOFT Petites
So, I went a different direction.  I paired the heels with a zebra print dress and tiger head bangle for a slightly quirkier twist.
Satchel:  The Limited
Bracelets:  Target and Torrid
Necklace:  Target
The python heels are still balanced by the "gentler" zebra print.  The dress/cardigan combo is simple in shape and color palette, This helps balance out the statement heel while still adding to the visual interest of the look.
Earrings:  trendylittlepieces
Glasses:  Firmoo.com (Available here)
How do you add flair to your simple work outfits?

By the way, I read that zebra prints were "out" this year.  Pshhhh...as if...wear what you want!! :-D

Double Sweaters

I've said on the blog before how much I love big comfy, oversized sweaters.

Well, for today's look, I decided to try two sweaters.

Zebra sweater:  New York & Company (Sold out on-line; may be available in stores)
Pants:  The Limited (Similar here)
I paired a lightweight cotton knit sweater underneath my zebra sweater coat for added warmth on a rainy and chilly fall day.

Black Sweater:  Outback Red for The Limited
Booties:  Target (Available here)
For curvier girls, layering sweaters can be tricky.  I don't always dress to flatter my physique, but I don't necessarily like to purposefully make myself look larger.  Sweaters can add a lot of bulk, so if you're mixing knits, it's generally best to stick to one thicker piece.

I generally enjoy a streamlined silhouette and am more minimalist than anything goes.  That said, I kept things a little simpler than normal today with black flare leg pants and the crew neck sweater.  Jewelry was subtle with just earrings and a slender bangle.

Bag:  Target (Available in pink here)

Earrings:  New York & Company (Available in silver here)
This sweater is such a statement piece that I really like the idea of letting it shine rather than mixing it with a lot of jewelry or other accessories (though I do have a bolder look with this sweater coming up soon).
Bangle:  Ann Taylor (Available here)
Are you a fan of mixing sweaters?  How do you avoid adding too much bulk?

Savanna Sunset

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I found an adorable line of Gymboree clothes on eBay that had little safari animals all over them.  The line was called Savanna Sunset.  I was a huge fan of the line, and the collection was perfectly fitting for my Savanna whose middle name just so happens to be Sunrise.  :-)
Bag:  The Limited
Jacket:  Jennifer Lopez Collection for Kohl's (Available here)
Today's outfit reminds me of that line.  Outside of the zebras, it bears little resemblance to the children's clothes, but it feels like an adult version of the theme.
Here, the safari-inspired dress gets mixed with evening add-ons - a pale beigy blush moto jacket and ankle booties - a savanna sunset!
Boots:  Target (Available here)
Dress:  The Limited
Ring:  LOFT
Bangles:  Target, Claire's, Wet Seal
Even though this look would be great for evening, I confess that I actually wore it to work.  I normally wouldn't wear a (faux) leather moto jacket to the office, but on occasion, I like to make exceptions to my work style rules!  Besides, it was a casual Friday - the perfect opportunity to have a little more fun with my work attire.

This look is fun, a little edgy, and oh so comfortable....everything I look for in my clothes!
Necklace:  The Limited

Tickled Pink: Blushing Zebras

I wrap up Pink Week today with a whimsical dress look that I'm planning to wear to work soon (the weather here took a cold turn, boo hiss).
Dress:  The Limited (Available here)
Blazer:  New York & Company (Available here)
The zebra print is so fun, but I love that it is almost abstract enough to also appear as just a pattern from a distance.
Necklace:  Shoxie.com (Available here)
Ring:  Purchased at local jewelry show
Earrings:  New York & Company (old)
The soft cream color has just the slightest pink tint, so this blush jacket was an easy pick to pair with the dress.
Purse:  New York & Company (old)
Black shoes and purse ground the look and give it a little more seriousness that makes it work appropriate.
Shoes:  Target (old)
Do you like animal prints on clothing?
