Romance in Lace and Tulle

Today on the blog, I'm back with another Valentine's Day outfit idea.  This one combines two of my favorite fabrics, lace and tulle, for a romantic V-Day look.
Skirt:  eShakti (Similar here)
Seriously, what's not to love about a tulle skirt?  This is the skirt from eShakti I got to replace the one seen here.  I prefer the simplicity of this one.
Top:  The Limited (Available here)
Blazer:  Altuzarra for Target
I would wear this look out to dinner with my honey.  In fact, I'm planning something a little similar for my actual Valentine's Day date look.
Shoes:  Simply Vera by Vera Wang
Locket:  Target
Clutch:  The Limited
Rings:  The Limited
The burgundy lace and heart locket add a sweet touch to the holiday look.
I do wish that the top was more of a crop top to help streamline the silhouette and accentuate my waist more.  The look feels a little bulkier than I wanted, but overall, I still really like it.

What are you planning to do this V-Day?

Pastel Pop

So far, I've worn this skirt with other neutrals.  I love the look of black lace mixed with neutrals, but recently for work, I decided to incorporate some color.
Skirt:  Ann Taylor Petites
Blazer:  The Limited
Lace can go a little garish in my opinion, so when adding color, I prefer to add soft or muted colors, like this pale blue blazer.
Satchel:  The Limited

Tank:  LOFT Petites
Boots:  Fergalicious by Fergie
Tights:  The Limited
I added in several delicate bracelets and necklaces to create more of  a statement look with the jewelry.
Bracelets:  The Limited & Torrid
Rings:  Torrid
Earrings:  Eva Mendes for New York & Company

Necklaces:  The Limited & Target
Do you wear much lace?  Do you add color or prefer to stick with a neutral color palette?

Black Textures

Happy Friday, everyone!

Hope you have all had a great week.  Today, I'm wrapping up the week with a recent work look.

Skirt:  Ann Taylor (Sold out on-line; May be available in stores)
Top:  eloquii (Sold out; See here)
I love playing with textures, so for this look, I wore a chiffon skirt with striped ribbing detail and a lace crop top.  To show off the texture of the lace top, I chose a beige cami.
Tank:  The Limited (Available here)
I wanted to give these lightweight fabrics a more autumnal feeling and to take away some of the delicateness of the look, so I added a velvet blazer and open-toe booties.
Blazer:  New York & Company
A faux crocodile-embossed satchel completed the look.
Satchel:  Express
Velvet and chiffon are certainly unexpected textures to wear together, but I'm loving how the mix adds depth to the outfit.
Boots:  Target
Do you like mixing textures and patterns in a look?

P.S.  The first time I wore this skirt (link below), I noted how I planned on getting it hemmed.  I have since had it hemmed (as pictured here), but it still felt a little long, so I brought it back to my tailor.  I hope to have it the perfect length soon.  Sometimes tailoring is a process of trial and error.  It's always better to err on the side of too long because then the piece can be shortened.  Take off too much, and you're stuck with a skirt you don't want to wear.

That Special Skirt

Happy Tuesday!

Hope your week is off to a great start!

Skirt:  Ann Taylor (Available here and Similar here)
Today, I want to share a recent work look that includes a new purchase of which I am completely enamored!

Recently, I spotted this navy embroidered lace floral skirt on Ann Taylor's web site, and I fell in love.

Clutch:  The Limited
Jacket:  Ann Taylor (Available here)
It was on clearance, final sale, and only available in a regular length.  I tend to vacillate between two different sizes, and it was only available in the larger size.  The reviews on the site mentioned the skirt ran a little big, so I was nervous about purchasing an item that I could not take back, especially in the larger size.  Because sizing is so often an issue for me, I NEVER shop at stores that don't allow for returns, so I really felt like I was taking a chance with this one.
Heels:  Target (Similar here)
At the same time, I nabbed this skirt at about 80% off, so I figured if it didn't fit and couldn't be altered, I could likely re-sell it on eBay and recoup what I spent.

I was beyond delighted when I pulled the skirt out of the package, slipped it on, and realized that the fit was comfortable and workable without any alterations!

Camisole:  LOFT Petites
I would have preferred the skirt be a little shorter, as it would have been in the petite length; however, the shorter underskirt shows enough leg that I still find the overall fit flattering enough.   Besides, fashion is about having fun, NOT worrying all the time about whether something "flatters."

For work, I wanted to keep things simple, so I paired the skirt with an ivory cami and a navy cropped jacket.  Basic navy heels completed the look, but I decided to go with a yellow clutch for a little shot of color.

Belt:  Torrid
Bracelet:  Ann Taylor (Available here)
I love that this outfit has a very conservative and classic feel which makes it very work-appropriate but that it also adds several on-trend elements with the midi length, florals, lace, and nautical flair.  This skirt has really great movement which makes it fun to wear.
Heels:  Target (Similar here)
If I were to wear this look off duty, I would switch out the navy heels for a higher pair in hot pink!
Necklace:  The Limited (Available here)
Earrings:  The Limited
Have you gotten any good bargains lately?
How would you style this skirt?
