Skirt Week 2: Creative Draping

I love pieces for work that are comfortable but that also have a lot of polish.  I find myself reaching more and more for knits and drapey fits.
Skirt:  New York & Company (Available here)
This scuba knit pencil skirt and lightweight drapey sweater from New York & Company are super comfortable.  I added in a loose fit top with architectural pleats for a color and a bit of polish.
Sweater:  New York & Company (Available here)
Blouse:  Target (Available here)
This sweater is the perfect weight for spring - it works well for air-conditioned offices without being too warm once I head outside of the office.

I do plan on getting the skirt taken in a bit more.  Since it's a stretchy knit, I want a super pencil-y fit through the hips and legs!

Tote:  Target (Available here)
I finished the look off with a fringe necklace and my floral lace-up heels.  I had actually planned on wearing the shoes from this look, but they were really old and when is started to put them on, I realized one of straps across the top had come apart from the shoe! :-(
Shoes:  Prabal Gurung for Target
I have very small but wide and thick feet.  It's always so hard for me to find new shoes that I just hate when I have to retire a favorite pair.
Necklace:  Target
Cuff:  The Limited
Do you have a difficult time finding shoes that fit? How do you maintain your work style while keeping comfort in mind?

Working Florals

Hope you all had a great week!!  I'm so happy it's the weekend I can't even tell you!

But, while I'm enjoying some respite, I've actually got a recent work look to share with you.
Dress:  The Limited (Available here)
This floral dress isn't something I would typically pick, but I just loved the color palette.  It has a slight 60s vibe, and I thought it would be a great addition to my work wardrobe.
Sweater:  New York & Company (Available here)
Purse:  The Limited
Lately, I keep steering towards evening fashion and other types of clothes that aren't really appropriate for work, so I think this was a good choice.
Booties:  Target
Ring:  Vintage

Locket:  Vintage
The dress is a little bit shapeless on its own, but I would still wear it by itself.
Since it's always cold in the office, a drapey navy sweater kept me cozy.  It's hard to see in the photos, but the flowers of the dress are outlined in navy.  I think I could also get by with pairing the dress with black to add more layering options.
I'm glad I found another work option. I see this dress as one that can transition well into colder weather and will add some liveliness to winter weather.  Versatility is becoming increasingly important to me, so I try to think of at least a few ways of wearing a piece before I invest.

How do you decide whether to purchase a new piece?

Gearing Up For Winter

Happy Wednesday!!
Sweater:  New York & Company (Available here)
Hope your week is going well and you're staying warm if you've been caught in this Arctic weather.  We've been faced with record cold temps, but the weather is starting to warm back up a bit.

I am doing my best to stay cozy, wearing my favorite cold weather staple - warm, oversized sweaters.

Pants:  The Limited
Camisole:  The Limited (Available here)
I immediately fell in love with the drapey fit, interesting neckline, and teal color of this sweater.  The sweater has buttons at the neckline to close the sweater, or it can be worn open for a cascading fit.  It does run a tad big, and I probably could have sized down, but the large fit in this style didn't bother me.
Booties:  Payless
Clutch:  Target (Available here)
Cuff:  The Limited
I wanted to keep everything else sleek, so I added black skinnies, a silver cuff, and cutout booties.

Whether you're still having moderate temps or experiencing record cold, winter is right around the corner for those of us in the northern hemisphere.
Ring:  Earthbound Trading Company (old)
How are you gearing up?
