Preppy Simplicity

Hi everyone, and happy Friday!!
Sweater:  The Limited (Available here)
I hope you all have had a great week!  I've been super busy, but I'm hoping to get a little down time during this holiday weekend.

For today's look, I wanted to feature a sweater from my January wish list.  I really love the vintage preppy vibe of this sweater and, of course, the monochromatic color palette.

Camisole:  The Limited (Available here)
Purse:  Express
The fit was definitely more over-sized than I was expecting.  I am wearing an extra large (average) here, but I could have easily went with a large.  For reference, I'm normally a 16 petite on top, so this sweater would likely fit up to a 20, maybe even a 22.  It's 100% cotton, and it stretched a bit during the day.  I'm plan on trying to shrink it up a bit in the dryer.  I like over-sized, but this was just a bit too big.
Pants:  The Limited (Similar here)
For the first wear, I paired it with simple black skinnies and the lace trimmed camisole from my January wish list.  The low v-neck makes the sporty sweater a bit sexier, and the camisole adds a feminine edge.
Earrings:  Mix of two sets from Target and Trendy Little Pieces (Available here and here)
I kept accessories simple, adding a vintage jade ring for a small pop of color, and black and white Dior-inspired tribal earrings - created by mixing two pairs.
Ring:  Vintage
Heels:  Target
Do you opt for oversized sweaters, or do you prefer them to be fitted?

Water Baby

Hope you all are enjoying the new year.
Cardigan:  New York & Company (Available in other colors here)
Today, I'm posting my Christmas look.  This outfit wasn't intentionally pulled together for Christmas, but It had the mix of comfort, casual, and pulled together that I wanted for my family get-together.
Tunic:  Target (old)Boots:  Payless (old)
Slip:  The Limited (Available here)
The print tunic has so many shades of green that I immediately thought of wearing it with the bluish-green sweater when I got it.

Knee high boots completed the relaxed look.
I love how the various shades of green and blue remind me of water.  Maybe it's because I'm a water sign (Scorpio), but I've always been attracted to the water, and green and blue have long been my favorite colors.
Locket:  Target (old)
What are your favorite colors?  And for a totally cheesy 70s pick up line, hey baby, what's your sign??  LOL

Gearing Up For Winter

Happy Wednesday!!
Sweater:  New York & Company (Available here)
Hope your week is going well and you're staying warm if you've been caught in this Arctic weather.  We've been faced with record cold temps, but the weather is starting to warm back up a bit.

I am doing my best to stay cozy, wearing my favorite cold weather staple - warm, oversized sweaters.

Pants:  The Limited
Camisole:  The Limited (Available here)
I immediately fell in love with the drapey fit, interesting neckline, and teal color of this sweater.  The sweater has buttons at the neckline to close the sweater, or it can be worn open for a cascading fit.  It does run a tad big, and I probably could have sized down, but the large fit in this style didn't bother me.
Booties:  Payless
Clutch:  Target (Available here)
Cuff:  The Limited
I wanted to keep everything else sleek, so I added black skinnies, a silver cuff, and cutout booties.

Whether you're still having moderate temps or experiencing record cold, winter is right around the corner for those of us in the northern hemisphere.
Ring:  Earthbound Trading Company (old)
How are you gearing up?

The Writing's on the Scarf

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!  Today on the blog, I'm featuring two recent looks that both incorporated a new statement scarf from Torrid.

The pictures aren't great, unfortunately.  The weather this week has been rainy and windy - very non-cooperative for getting good pics.

Blazer:  The Limited
Scarf:  Torrid (Available here)
I wore this first look for yesterday's casual Friday at work.  Here, the scarf helps tie the look together and adds visual interest to this simple, easy look.
Clutch:  The Limited
Ring:  Earthbound Trading Co.
Bracelets:  The Limited
A pale blue blazer keeps the color palette subtle, while silver jewelry adds some soft shine.
Jeans:  The Limited
Cami:  LOFT Petites
Boots:  Payless (old)
The second look was borne out of a desire for comfort.  In addition to the rainy and cool weather, I seem to be in the early stages of my annual bout of bronchitis.  I wasn't feeling well and I wanted to be warm and comfortable.  I chose very basic pants and a cami and added my oversized cocoon sweater.  Since I was still chilly, I threw on a scarf too.
Sweater:  Target (old) (Similar here)
Normally, I wouldn't pair two oversized pieces in the same look.  Being curvy and petite, it's definitely not the most flattering of looks.  That said, I liked it from a fashion standpoint.  Better yet, I was cozy and comfortable all day.
Pants:  The Limited
Cuff:  The Limited
Sandals:  Payless
Scarves can really help make a look, in my opinion.  I love taking simple outfits and letting a statement scarf do the work.

Do you like to use scarves to change up a look?  Would you wear an oversized sweater and scarf together?
