Reading Between The Lines

Shortly before Christmas, I wore today's look to work. It has a festive feel with the stripes, red, and sequins.  I felt like a candy cane...in a good way.
Top:  Eloquii (Available here)
While I loved this look for its holiday feel, it's not overly "holiday," so it's an outfit that I would be likely to wear anytime during the year.

Since I've been working a lot of overtime, I have been looking to clothes that are comfortable for long hours of work, and this outfit definitely fit the bill.  I would wear this look on the weekend, but it's still polished enough for work in my business casual setting.
Sweater:  Torrid
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  New Look (Available at ASOS here)
I love wearing sequins for daytime, and this top is a versatile piece that easily transitions from day to night.  The sequins aren't overly sparkly, and by adding the sweater, it helps tone down the sequins enough that it doesn't feel over-the-top for an office setting.
Cuff:  The Limited
Tote:  Isabel Toledo for Lane Bryant
Glasses:  Valentino
I love that the look is relaxed and easy and has such a graphic color combination.  The sweater is super comfortable, and the top has a knit back, which makes it great for all day wear.  Unlike a lot of sequin tops, this one is not scratchy.  Yay!!!
How do you stay comfortable at work?  Do you like a red, white, and black color combination?

Casual Black and White (And My 200th Post!)

Hello to the weekend!!!
Jeans:  The Limited (Available here)
Blazer:  New York & Company
I wore my new white jeans for casual Friday at work, pairing them with a black and white graphic top and black blazer.
Blouse:  Forenza by The Limited
Flats:  Target (Available here)
My poor feet needed a rest, so I wore the studded flats to work; however, I wanted to show the look with heels too.
Ring:  The Limited
Heels:  Target (Available here)
I still need to get the jeans hemmed, so I cuffed them.  I also plan on trying to shrink them a little as they're a bit baggy, but I'm excited to find some white jeans again.  I've been looking for white jeans for the last couple of years, but most of them were too sheer for my liking.  This pair was perfect.
Earrings:  Prabal Gurung for Target (No longer available; see here)
Purse:  New York & Company
This is my 200th post!  I just want to thank everyone for your viewership and support.  It has been quite humbling and gratifying to receive such positive feedback.

I have loved fashion my entire life and have always dreamed of entertaining this passion in a bigger way than just my closet.  This blog has allowed me to discuss my love of fashion with like-minded people, but it has also provided me an incredible platform to begin pursuing another dream - to promote body confidence and to expand the notion of beauty.  I thank you all for joining me on this journey as I continue to pursue my goals and to develop my burgeoning blog!

Spring 2013 Fashion Preview: Graphic Black & White

Black and white never really goes out of style; however, the last couple seasons, designers have really utilized this classic color combination, making it uber-trendy.  This coming spring, expect to see lots of black and white in solids and graphic prints in stores.

Pretty bright colors are expected for spring, but many designers took a more unexpected turn this spring using black and white.

Since this is my favorite combination, color me quite happy!!

Jacket:  Target Petites (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (No longer available on-line)
Blouse:  Old Navy Petites
Tote:  The Limited
Today, I paired this great ponte knit peplum jacket I just found on-line at Target with basic black pieces for a graphic look.

I paired my outfit with a red tote for a pop of color, but for spring, many designers kept accessories in black and white as well.

Circles and Lines

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Today, I chose my favorite monochromatic color palette and mixed textures and prints to keep the look interesting.
Coated denim jeans:  Target (Available here)
Blazer:  The Limited (Similar here)
Tank:  The Limited
Satchel:  The Limited (Available here)
Scarf:  The Limited
Earrings:  Express
The herringbone blazer and stripes in the scarf play off of the circles on the scarf and polkadots on the blouse.

The quilted satchel and striped bangle adds more texture and subtle print to the look.
Bangles:  Target
Shoes:  Target

Dress It Up

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a great day!

Today, I paired this blue dress with my zebra print scarf.  I love animal prints, and I really enjoy mixing bold colors with black and white prints for a very graphic look.

Dress:  New York & Company (Similar:  here)
Scarf:  The Limited (old)
Blazer:  The Limited Essential Collection (Similar: here)
Tights:  Torrid (Available here)
I continually try to think of new ways to style my dresses.  They're definitely more limited than separates, but I like how wearing the scarf hides the cowl neckline of the dress giving it a bit of a different look.
Larimar ring (old):  Purchased at local jewelry show
Belt:  The Limited (Similar here)
Boots:  Payless (old)
Tote:  New York & Company (Similar here)
Earrings:  The Limited (Available here)
To see how I've style the dress differently, see here, here, and here.
