Wild Card Wednesday: Christian Siriano x Lane Bryant

I have been a big fan of Christian Siriano since his days on Project Runway.  I always love to see what he's doing and I adore how he has always willingly and lovingly dressed women of all shapes and sizes.  When I heard that he was collaborating with Lane Bryant, I was particularly excited.
Jacket:  Christian Siriano x Lane Bryant (Available here)
I am not a big Lane Bryant shopper and rarely purchase clothes from this retailer, but with Christian Siriano behind the drawing board, I was excited to see what might get produced.  I enjoyed his spring line for Lane Bryant though I didn't end up purchasing any of the pieces.

When his new fall collection came out, I very quickly scooped up this jacket and the ivory maxi dress (coming to the blog soon), and there were a few other pieces that caught my eye.
Dress:  Forever 21+
This jacket had me at hello.  It has a little drama, and the pink lining in the sleeves is such a nice touch.  Between the zipper detail, lining, and pretty fabric, this jacket feels much more expensive that it was.
Booties:  New Look Wide Fit
Earrings:  Target
I decided to let this jacket be the star of the show and paired it with a body con dress and booties for a simple work look with punch.
Satchel:  The Limited
Also - excitingly, this jacket required only one small inexpensive alteration.  There is a single belt loop in the back.  I had that raised to fit me at my natural waist, and it made a big difference in fit!
Glasses:  Valentino
Have you tried any of the pieces from Christian Siriano's collab with Lane Bryant?  What did you think?

The Metallic Bomber Jacket

I have long been a fan of metallics, so I am always excited when they trend because that means there will be a greater variety of options available.  This fall, metallics are back in a big way, and while gold is the number one metal this season, silver isn't far behind.
Jacket:  Eloquii (Available here)
I heard a rumor that a silver bomber jacket was going to be available on Eloquii, so I excitedly stalked Eloquii's site for a couple weeks until it finally appeared!!!  I have already talked about the bomber jacket trend, and the thought of one in silver sounded positively amazing!
Dress:  ASOS Curve
In my head, I envisioned a silver quilted bomber, so I was surprised when I saw this sporty number.  Once I adjusted to the image I had created in my head, I realized I was totally in love with this piece.  A metallic bomber jacket in this sporty fabrication is so unexpected, which is part of its allure.  I am not really one for athletic wear, but I love the idea of adding sporty elements to my look in a more sophisticated or fun way.
Sneakers:  Juicy Couture Kids (old)
This silver jacket does just that!  Here, I paired the bomber with a flirty dress and sneakers for a mix of elements.  The dress ties in the back, but I decided to wrap the tie around my neck and create an on-trend choker.
I am already thinking about what else to pair with this dress - definitely a maxi dress, for starters.

How would you style this bomber?  Are you a fan of wearing metallics?

Manic Monday: Bohemian Florals

During a recent Shop Your Closet post, I featured one of my favorite trends for fall - bomber jackets.  That post featuring a floral bomber jacket from Who What Wear x Target also incorporated another of my favorite fall trends - florals!  Today, I'm focusing on the fall floral trend with a slightly quirky mixed print look by pairing two different florals with a polka dot trench.
Trench:  Who What Wear x Target (Available here)
The subdued colors of this look give it a sophisticated feel, and the black background color of each piece keeps the mixing of multiple prints from feeling garish.
Blouse:  Who What Wear x Target (Available here)
Skirt:  Who What Wear x Target (Available here)
I finished the look with my buckled, open-toe booties and a faux croc-embossed bag.

I usually go for looks with a little more minimalist feel, but I really love this look!  Fall is all about prints and embellishment, and it's high on the details.  Sophisticated bohemian looks are having a serious moment, so if you have ever had a desire to dress like an Olsen twin (and yes, I actually have), this is the season to give it a try!

Bag:  The Limited
Boots:  New Look
Sunglasses:  Tory Burch
Earrings:  Torrid
Do you like the dark floral trend?  How would you style this blouse?

Wild Card Wednesday: Dressing Down the LBD

My husband and I recently had a movie date to see Bad Moms, and I went with this comfortable knit look.
Dress:  ASOS
The dress is so comfortable, and the lightweight knit bomber jacket was the perfect cover-up.  It was still warm outside, so I didn't want to dress too warm - the jacket was just right.
Jacket:  Boohoo Plus (Available here)
Clutch:  The Limited
Plus, I really love how the jacket and booties give this LBD a decidedly more casual vibe.
Booties:  life+style by Sonoma
Glasses:  Valentino
Bracelet:  The Limited
My husband loved this look, and so did I.  Oh, and we both really loved the movie too!  :-)

Manic Monday: Soft Layers

Fall style usually means lots of dark colors and no shortage of black.  While it definitely still means all of those things, fall style can also include pastels and soft neutrals. Paired with everything from black to olive to unexpected lemon yellow, blush pink is a big color this fall.
Dress:  Who What Wear x Target (Available here)

Trench:  Boohoo (Available here)
Booties:  Revel x Target (Available here)
The olive midi dress and taupe boots are soft neutrals that both really pop against the blush pink trench.
Clutch:  The Limited
The belted dress, while soft, has a bit of structure and is streamlined, while the soft trench adds a relaxed, unstructured touch.

I have definitely found my new work uniform in the form of dresses with soft duster jackets and trenches.
Do you like wearing softer neutrals and colors in the fall or do you stick with darker colors?

Shop Your Closet: Ruffles

I have been fighting a cold which is never fun, but fall fashion has me all kinds of happy!  I'm seriously loving the trends this year, and I feel like after a couple rather boring fall seasons, we're seeing some more inspired options.

This season, ruffles are a big trend, and a tunic dress in black is a great way to hop on this trend without going too girly.  Today's Shop Your Closet features three ways to wear this ruffled tunic from Eloquii.

Wear-Now Evening

First up is a wear-now option.  It's still pretty warm in my neck of the woods, but I get too excited about fall fashion to wait until it's actually cool to shop or wear my fall pieces.

Tunic:  Eloquii (Available here)
Heels:  Amazon
By opening up the neckline and pairing with strappy heels, I can stay breezy and cool on a still-balmy late summer night.
Clutch:  Target (old)
Sunglasses:  Tory Burch
Earrings:  Eloquii
Casual
There are a lot of new denim options this season, but skinny jeans aren't going anywhere.  They're now a wardrobe classic for many of us, but like all great classics, it's always best to update for the season to create a fresher look.

Jeans:  Torrid (Available here)
Ring:  Earthbound Trading Company (old)
I paired the ruffled tunic over skinnies for a play with proportions.  I like how the soft black color of the denim creates a subtle contrast against the tunic.
Glasses:  Valentino
Shoes:  Target
Clutch:  The Limited (old)
I had planned a third look for today's post to show how I would be styling my ruffles for cooler weather.  Since I wasn't feeling well, I didn't get a chance to snap photos, but be sure to look for this tunic in the coming months layered over long sleeve tops and paired with tights and velvet boots!

How would you style this tunic?  Are you a fan of this fall's ruffle trend?

Wild Card Wedesday: Laces & Knots

I love a dress that has effortless sex appeal, a dress that is comfortable and easy but a little daring at the same time.

Enter this ivory number from ASOS.

Dress:  Missguided Plus from ASOS (Available here)
I bought this dress in early summer with the intention of wearing it for my anniversary in August, but then the hubs and I decided to just have a low-key after-work date instead.

I have been eager to wear this dress and hope to have occasion to wear it very soon, but since it was burning a hole in my closet, I decided I just had to feature it on the blog.
Clutch:  The Limited
Glasses:  Valentino
It's super comfortable, and I feel so good in it.  I am not a big fan of tight clothing, and the loose fit of this dress mixed with the plunging neckline makes this dress EVERYTHING to me!  The knot detail is unusual and adds interest to this simple dress.

For today's styling, I paired the dress with gold metallic lace-up heels and a blush clutch for a sweet, subdued blend of colors.
Heels:  ASOS (Available here)
Bangle:  LOFT
I kept accessories minimal with a gold bangle and stud earrings.
What type of clothing makes you feel your sexiest?

Shop Your Closet: The Bomber Jacket

Happy Sunday!!!!  For today's Shop Your Closet feature, I'm getting started with some fall trends.  Stay tuned the next few Sundays with more Shop Your Closet posts featuring my favorite trends for fall.
Skirt:  Who What Wear for Target (Available here)
Ring:  The Limited
One of the big trends for fall is bomber jackets, and I have become a big fan due to all of the different fabrications in which these jackets are now available.
Camisole:  Who What Wear for Target (Available here)
Jacket:  Who What Wear for Target (Available here)
Bomber jackets are usually associated with more casual looks, but this floral option from the Who What Wear line for Target is versatile enough to wear to work.
Clutch:  Who What Wear for Target (Available here)
This first look is a matchy-matchy option that I wore to work recently.  I love that the flowers on the skirt are somewhat smaller than the print on the jacket, creating a bit of a contrast in proportions.
Booties:  New Look Wide Fit from ASOS (Available here)
Glasses:  Valentino
For the second look, I paired my bomber with one of my favorite dresses from spring/summer, and gave it more of an autumnal feel.
Dress:  Who What Wear for Target
Boots:  New Look Wide Fit
Necklace:  Vintage

Glasses:  Coach
Satchel:  The Limited
I went casual for the last look by pairing the bomber with cuffed jeans and comfy booties.
Camisole:  Who What Wear for Target (Available here)
Jeans:  The Limited Petites
Boots:  Target (Available here)
Necklace:  Rack & Clutch Mobile Boutique (St. Louis area)
I can already tell that this bomber is going to get a TON of wear this fall, and I'm looking forward to coming up with some more styling options for this piece!

Are you a fan of bomber jackets?  How would you style this trend?
