Imitation Game: Gabi Fresh

So, of course, I am a huge fan of GabiFresh!!! I mean, who doesn't love her blog, right?
Jacket:  Boohoo (Available here)
Well, today's Imitation Game post is a very direct inspiration.  I had my eyes on both this tee and jacket from Boohoo when I clicked over to GabiFresh and saw her rocking both pieces.

Tee:  Boohoo (Available here)
After seeing how amazing Gabi looked, I decided to stop putting these pieces in my cart and actually buy them!
Jeans:  Torrid
Initially, I wanted the mauve version of this jacket, but I didn't love the color against my skin.  This green actually works much better against my warm skin-tone.
Shoes:  Prabal Gurung for Target
I love a bold coral lip and personally find it easier to wear and more flattering on me than red, so I took a cue from Gabi's make-up too.

I finished the look with my favorite heels - I love how the floral pattern and lace-up design adds a feminine and sexy touch to this simple jeans and tee look!

Now, let me talk about these jeans...I love the look of boyfriend jeans, but I definitely need to find a different pair soon.  These are from Torrid, and they drive me crazy as they stretch out and start falling down almost immediately after I put them on.  Plus, I find the denim a little bulky.  I absolutely love Torrid's skinny jeans, so these are just a real bummer.  Any suggestions for a good pair of boyfriend jeans that won't stretch out?  I am a 12/14, so I can do straight or plus sizes.

Safari-Inspired

I hope you enjoyed my spring collaboration series with Irene of Petite Plus, Meow!!  I have been so busy this week that it has been hard to find the time to blog, but I'm back today with a quick post featuring a soft neutral safari-inspired look.
Jacket:  Ava & Viv, Target (Available here)
This easy jacket is from the Ava & Viv line for Target.  I'm not a big fan of this brand overall (find it a little bland), but I really liked the easy fit and overall design of this jacket.  The taupe color is a nice neutral that will work well into fall.
Dress:  ASOS (Sold out; see here)
The large pockets give this jacket a safari feel.  I mixed the jacket with an ivory dress with lace-up detail which adds to the safari vibe.
Sunglasses:  Calvin Klein
I would have loved some taupe booties with this look.  I used to have the most fantastic pair of taupe booties, but after they wore out, I haven't been able to find a pair that fits properly and that I like.  The nude-to-me booties worked well enough though.
Booties:  Target
I finished the look with a faux python clutch to add a pattern to the look.  I also love how it plays with the safari theme.
Ring:  Earthbound Trading Co. (old)
Bracelets:  LOFT
Clutch:  The Limited
Do you like safari-inspired pieces?  Have you tried the Ava+Viv line for Target?  What are your thoughts on it?

Spring Double Feature: Bolder Shoulder

I hope you have been enjoying my series with Irene of Petite Plus, Meow! on some of spring's biggest trends.  You have seen our takes on wearing white, florals, and stripes, and citron chartreuse, but we're not done yet!Today, we finish off our Spring Double Feature by baring a little shoulder and showing off those sexy clavicles with the off-the-shoulder trend that is everywhere this spring.
Top:  Target (Available here)
I decided to take this trend in a super casual direction, pairing an off-the-shoulder tunic with these comfy shorts from the new Marimekko for Target collection.
Shorts:  Marimekko for Target (Available here)
The shorts feature Marimekko's citrusy Appelsiini print, a lovely graphic summery print. These shorts are available in both straight and plus sizes - for reference, I'm wearing a straight size large.  The top is also from Target.  It's a junior's size top, and runs big.  I'm wearing an XL.
Wedges:  Sugar
I added wedge sandals to add a little height while allowing me to stay comfortable.  A straw hat and clutch, both oldies but goodies from Target, complete the look.
Clutch:  Target
I'm really digging the relaxed vibe of this outfit and the fact that both pieces are such airy, cool cotton.  They will be perfect for summertime.  The hubby and I have been discussing the possibility of another beach trip with the kids this summer, and these pieces will definitely be in my suitcase!

The top is super sheer, so you will need to pair with a tank or use as a cover-up for a bikini top as I did here.
Hat:  Target
I love my casual look, but I'm also digging the super sexy tropical floral dress that Irene is rocking three different ways.  Head to Petite Plus, Meow! to get all the details on her look and don't forget to follow her on social media - you can find her Facebook page here and Instagram here.

Spring Double Feature: Citron Chartruese

Irene and I continue our spring trend collaboration with another color trend - citron chartreuse!!
Skirt:  Eloquii (Similar here)
This spring, a lot of the color trends are those that are typically associated with fall - think rust, deep emerald  and teal greens, poppy reds, and of course, chartreuse!!  I love all of these colors, and they work well with my warm skin tone.  That said, I realized that I didn't own any clothes in chartreuse (note to self:  find something chartreuse, stat).  So, since I didn't quite have this color, I worked with what I did have - chartreuse's close, slightly brighter and more yellow cousin, citron.
Jacket:  The Limited
The citron pieces pop against the royal blue moto jacket while the multi-color heels add a fun twist and help pull the colors of the outfit together.  To take a little of the Easter Sunday sweetness out of the combo, I added a silver bib necklace.
Tee:  LOFT Petites
Shoes:  Prabal Gurung for Target
Necklace:  JCPenney
Irene played with the chartreuse trend by pairing a chartreuse blouse and earrings with white pants and heels and a fuchsia lip for a bright and cheerful spring look.  You can see more of her look over at Petite Plus, Meow! and follow her on Instagram and Facebook.

Spring Double Feature: Stripe Storm

How have you been enjoying my collab with Irene of Petite Plus, Meow!?  So far, we've interpreted the white and floral trends, and today, we are back to talk about stripes, baby!!
Skirt:  Eloquii (Available here)
Today's outfit is one of my favorites of the week.  In addition to florals, stripes are one of the big pattern trends for spring.  I just love the color combination and fit on this midi skirt and the fact that it has pockets!!!

Initially, I had planned to pair this skirt with the matching off-shoulder top from Eloquii.  Unfortunately, I looked like a flamenco-dancing clown!  The top was perfectly lovely on the model, but some things just don't work for busty petites, and that top was one of them.  :-(

Top:  ASOS Curve
Instead, I paired the skirt with my favorite sweetheart neckline crop top.  The straps are a tad long, so I was able to create an off-the-shoulder look with it, and I loved the letting the sleeves loosely drape on and off the shoulder.
Shoes:  Christian Siriano for Payless
I added ikat print heels for a mixed print look and added my lipstick clutch for a slightly quirky take.
Clutch:  Torrid
Sunglasses:  Tory Burch
Irene plays in a preppy striped dress, giving it a bit of a 70s boho vibe with the addition of a suede fringe vest.  Head over to her blog to see more of her look and to get all the outfit details.  You can also follow Irene on Instagram and Facebook to see what else she has going on!
Irene of Petite Plus, Meow!
While stripes are a common print, this spring, they are literally everywhere and in tons of various fabrications.  Stripes are so easy to wear and can be a very versatile print in one's wardrobe.  I am trying to branch out into wearing more prints, and stripes are an easy and stylish way to go about it!
What about you?  Will you be partaking in the stripes trend?

Spring Double Feature: Fetching Florals

Irene of Petite Plus, Meow! and I are back with another installment of our spring trends series, this time rocking some pretty blooms!  Florals aren't very original for spring, but they are actually a really big trend this season.  Since Irene and I both had some new floral pieces in our closet, we decided to go with it.
Skirt:  Who What Wear for Target (Available here)
For today's post, I'm wearing a look from the Who What Wear collaboration for Target.  The skirt is from the straight size line, the tee from the plus line.  For reference, I had the skirt taken in through the hips and the flounce moved up several inches.  I also shortened the flounce of the skirt by two inches.  The tee required no alterations.
Tee:  WhoWhatWear for Target (Available here)
While I looooove flouncy fluted skirts like this one, this outfit is definitely out-of-the-box for me!  Florals may be a regular part of spring fashion, but they actually play a very small part in my wardrobe.  I was attracted to the colors and print on this set though, and I love the black background - I think it's a floral that will work well into the fall!
Heels:  New Look
Clutch:  ALDO from ASOS (Out of stock on-line; See here)
Sunglasses:  Calvin Klein
Earrings:  Wearing two pairs, Target and Etsy
I fought my urge to throw on a moto jacket with this look and kept things ultra-feminine by adding a bow clutch and strappy heels.  In the fall, I will definitely throw on my favorite black cropped moto jacket and some booties to toughen up these florals.
Ring:  The Limited
Bracelets:  LOFT
Irene is rocking the floral trend with this awesome jumpsuit from Old Navy.  Petite and curvy women can definitely work it in wide leg crops, and Irene proves it with this fab look!  You can see more of her look on her blog here or follow her on Facebook and Instagram.
