Spring Double Feature: Fetching Florals

Irene of Petite Plus, Meow! and I are back with another installment of our spring trends series, this time rocking some pretty blooms!  Florals aren't very original for spring, but they are actually a really big trend this season.  Since Irene and I both had some new floral pieces in our closet, we decided to go with it.
Skirt:  Who What Wear for Target (Available here)
For today's post, I'm wearing a look from the Who What Wear collaboration for Target.  The skirt is from the straight size line, the tee from the plus line.  For reference, I had the skirt taken in through the hips and the flounce moved up several inches.  I also shortened the flounce of the skirt by two inches.  The tee required no alterations.
Tee:  WhoWhatWear for Target (Available here)
While I looooove flouncy fluted skirts like this one, this outfit is definitely out-of-the-box for me!  Florals may be a regular part of spring fashion, but they actually play a very small part in my wardrobe.  I was attracted to the colors and print on this set though, and I love the black background - I think it's a floral that will work well into the fall!
Heels:  New Look
Clutch:  ALDO from ASOS (Out of stock on-line; See here)
Sunglasses:  Calvin Klein
Earrings:  Wearing two pairs, Target and Etsy
I fought my urge to throw on a moto jacket with this look and kept things ultra-feminine by adding a bow clutch and strappy heels.  In the fall, I will definitely throw on my favorite black cropped moto jacket and some booties to toughen up these florals.
Ring:  The Limited
Bracelets:  LOFT
Irene is rocking the floral trend with this awesome jumpsuit from Old Navy.  Petite and curvy women can definitely work it in wide leg crops, and Irene proves it with this fab look!  You can see more of her look on her blog here or follow her on Facebook and Instagram.

Spring In Bloom

Happy Sunday Funday!
Dress:  Target (old)
Yesterday was such a gorgeous day in Saint Louis!  The snow has mostly melted, and the sun was shining.  I can get used to this weather!

The man and I had a dinner date last night.  Inspired by the warmer weather and the hope of spring right around the corner, I chose a floral maxi and added my cognac moto jacket for warmth when the sun went down.

Jacket:  The Limited (Available here)
Earrings:  The Limited
Purse:  The Limited
Ring:  Shoxie.com
The Turkish food was delicious, and it was nice to be out and about and to not be FREEZING!  Winter seriously pushes me into near-hibernation mode, and I can get very anti-social.  Spring puts so much more pep in my step!  :-)
Necklace:  Ann Taylor
Hope the weather is warming up where you are!  Doing anything fun this weekend?

Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour!

Spring To It

Today, I bring you a professional spring work look.
Skirt: The Limited (Similar here)
Blazer:  The Limited (Similar here)
I paired a green pencil skirt with a white top and jacket.  To add some visual interest, I added this floral scarf.

Top:  Torrid (old)
Scarf:  The Limited (No longer available on-line; see here)
Bracelets:  Express, Target
This outfit is quite conservative, more conservative than I usually go for.  I like it though because it feels so fresh and springy with the combination of green and white.  It's a great way to bring a little of the joy of spring into the office.
Shoes:  Target (Available in other colors here)
Purse:  The Limited (Similar here)
Hope you all have a great day!!

Pattern Play

Today's look is inspired by spring.  The nautical stripes on the top, floral scarf, and fresh navy, white and green color palette all make me think of spring.
Top:  The Limited (Available here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Mixing patterns has been a trend the last season or so and will be continuing into this spring.
Purse:  The Limited
The top and scarf have a somewhat casual feel, but the navy trousers help dress the look up enough for work.  I added a matching navy blazer for work since it was rather chilly.

I love the tassels on the scarf!!!
Scarf:  The Limited (Available here)
Bracelet:  Target (old)
Ring:  Gift-vintage (Similar here)
Shoes:  Target (Sold out in navy; find other colors here)
Do you like navy?  Do you like mixing patterns?

Double Peplum & Prabal Gurung for Target

Today's evening look is all about the peplum (oh, and these awesome shoes!)

Blazer:  Target (Available here)
Dress:  New York & Company (Similar here)

I paired a black peplum dress with a white peplum jacket for an on-trend mix of black and white.  Peplums can be super flattering and are great at disguising a tummy.
I would wear an outfit like this on a romantic dinner date.  It could also work for a business or other work-related evening function.

Shoes:  Prabal Gurung for Target (Available in select stores.  See here)
I am so in love with these heels form Prabal Gurung's line for Target!  They are romantic and sexy at the same time and are a great statement shoe with a relatively simple outfit.
Cuff:  The Limited (old)
As a day-to-night option, this evening look could easily be a transformation from a day outfit.  For day, the strappy floral heels could be replaced by a simple lower-heeled pump and the pewter clutch replaced with a work satchel.
Earrings:  Prabal Gurung for Target (Sold out on-line; Available in some stores; see here)
Clutch:  Target (Available here)
What would you wear for an evening work event?

Prabal Gurung for Target

I have been eagerly waiting for the latest designer collaboration with Target.  Prabal Gurung's collaboration hit stores and the net today, and I just had to go to my local Target to check it out!

The collection is available in limited supply and for a limited time only.  The clothing comes in misses sizes up to size 16.
Unfortunately, my favorite piece of the collection was sold out on-line and in-stores before I had a chance to get it.  ;-(

I'm hopeful that someone will return this top in my size because word has it that no further shipments will be made.

This heart lace top is just gorgeous and so fun.  It would be perfect for Valentine's Day.

Prabal Gurung for Target lace overlay top
Overall, I was very impressed with the design and quality of this latest collaboration.  Unlike some of the collaborations of the past, the price points, quality, and design were all spot-on.  The tops appeared to be true to size, but the skirts and dresses seemed to run about a size smaller than normal.

Other favorites from the collection:
Prabal Gurung for Target colorblocked dress
Prabal Gurung for Target red ruffle dress
Prabal Gurung for Target heels in "Meet the Parents" print
These two red dresses would be great for Valentine's Day.  The colorblocked dress didn't catch my attention at first, but it is soo flattering thanks to the strategic colorblocking in the waist.  The ruffle dress is so romantic, and ruffles are a major spring trend.
The floral lace-up shoes are just so romantic and sexy.  They would look perfect with either of the dresses above.

Prabal Guring for Target "First Date" print top
Prabal Gurung for Target heels in "Nolita" print
Prabal Gurung for Target enamel bangle
I love the neon colors of these pieces above.  The kaleidoscope print top looks more expensive than it is and the striped pumps are actually brighter in person than they appear in the photo, making them a great match for the top.
Prabal Gurung for Target crystal teardrop pendant
Prabal Gurung for Target crystal teardrop earrings
These crystal earrings and pendant remind me of an oversized version of a set I had as a kid.  The pendant has more of a casual vibe, but the earrings would be perfect for an evening out.

Do you plan on getting any of the pieces from Prabal Gurung's collection for Target??

Suit and Flowers

Hi everyone!
Blazer:  The Limited (Avalable here)
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)

Tote:  The Limited
This look is from last Friday.  I wasn't feeling ultra-inspired in the fashion department, and suits are always an easy way to look put together without much effort.
Blouse:  The Limited
Locket:  Target
(Similar here)
Shoes:  Target (old)
Since I tend to find grey suits a little too conservative and corporate for my tastes, I added a floral top with large pink and red flowers to help brighten and soften up the look.

It's amazing how I can feel just as much at home in a suit as I can my Gaga outfit.  Seem like such polar opposites, but I think the two looks are just manifestations of different aspects of my personality.  Both looks exhibit power to me, which I love for women!  :-)

Do you tend to steer towards one style - preppy, business, creative, bohemian, rock-n-roll, etc., or do you like to mix it up?

To see this blouse styled differently, see here.

Tried and True

Hey everyone!

Today, I didn't have an outfit planned out, so in a pinch, I chose my favorite black suit.
Trousers:  The Limited Black Collection (Similar here)
Blazer:  The Limited Black Collection (Similar here)
Purse:  New York & Company (Similar here)
I really do think a black suit is a wonderful staple in my closet.

I could wear this suit twice a week and be happy.  It's completely professional and classic, but it can be styled in a myriad of ways, and because it's black, it's easy to give the suit a slight touch of moody glamour.

Today, I chose an ivory silky cowl neck top to pair with it.  A cowl neck is just as flattering as a v-neck, but adds a little more design and dimension to a top.  The flowers on this top look like a charcoal drawing, which is so gorgeous.  Seriously, I don't think the pictures do this blouse justice.
Blouse:  The Limited (old)
Earrings:  Target (old)
The only downside of this top (and being so petite) is that the print goes down the full length of the blouse, but the blouse is much too long to wear without tucking.  I'm literally losing half of this blouse's lovely print by tucking.  :-(
Bracelet:  Target (old)
Belt:  The Limited
For more on why I love suits (especially this black one), see here.

Do you have any favorite tried and true wardrobe staples?

Flower Power

Yesterday I was feeling bad again, so it was back to sweatpants.  :-(

I still felt kind of crummy today, but it was back to work for me.

Blazer:  The Limited (Similar  here) (Worn also here)
Blouse:  Outback Red by The Limited
Today, I reached for something comfy, but bright and cheerful, to get me through the sick blahs.
Pants:  The Limited (Similar here)
Purse:  The Limited
I love the romantic, but not overly frilly, feeling of this floral top and red blazer.  The mix of pinks and reds makes me feel happy.
Earrings:  The Limited (Close-up here) (Similar here)
Necklace:  Target (old)
The polkadot lining of the blazer adds a subtle pop of a second pattern and ups the smile quotient for me.

I added simple flower studs and an etched locket to maintain the romantic feel.
While this look isn't groundbreaking fashion, j'adore the subtle Parisian vibe.  :-)

What do you reach for in your closet when you need a fashion pick-me-up?
