Citrus With Bite

This spring, I'm really obsessed with wearing white.  As much as I love wearing black, white is a perfect alternative for warmer weather.
Jacket:  Peter Som for Kohl's (Available here)
Jeans:  The Limited (Similar here)
Tank:  Peter Som for Kohl's (Available here)
For today's look, I paired my white jeans from last year with a pineapple print tank and moto jacket that I recently bought from Peter Som's line for Kohl's.

You've already seen the jacket on the blog a few times - it is quickly becoming a new favorite!!

Booties:  Target (Available here)
I paired the look with my beige booties to maintain a neutral line.

For additional pops of color, I added in citrus-hued bracelets and a cute citron clutch that looks a bit like a lemon wedge.
Clutch:  The Limited (Available here)
Bracelets:  The Limited, Target, Express
I love the summer citrus theme for warm weather, and I think the white serves as a perfect canvas for the bright colors and helps keep the look from being costumey.
Necklace:  The Limited (Similar here)
Would you wear an all-white look?  Would you wear a citrus print?

Styling for the Changing Seasons

Happy Saturday!

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!  Today, I'm back with a little workplace fashion.

Dress:  The Limited
I wore this dress during the winter with a faux leather jacket, tights, and boots.  When warmer weather hit, I lost the tights, added sandals, and opted for a cropped 3/4 sleeve jacket.

It was a little chilly in the office, so I brought along the ivory wrap (tied to my bag) for extra warmth during the day.
Jacket:  Forever 21+
Sandals:  Target (old)
I added blue and silver bangles to bring out the blue colorblocking on the dress.
Bracelets:  Target, LOFT, Express
While I usually purchase clothing out of desire for a particular piece, I also try to be mindful of how each item I buy can be worn in various ways and in multiple seasons.  I can think of at about a half dozen ways to style this dress for work and weekends, so for me, this dress was a worthwhile purchase.
Satchel:  Target (Available here)
Scarf:  ??? (about 20 years old)
Do you factor in versatility into your clothing purchase decisions?  What are some ways you transition pieces from season to season?

Dress Week 3: Breezy and Easy

Last weekend, the man and I ran a few errands.  I wanted a super comfortable outfit, but one that had a little style to it.
Dress:  Babooshka Boutique (Available here)
I wore my knit jersey maxi dress.  Since it had high side slits, I added my black bandage skirt for coverage.
Skirt:  The Limited (Similar here)
I paired this outfit with silver gladiator sandals, a large statement necklace, and a large tote.
Necklace:  The Limited
Ring:  Earthbound Trading Company
Sandals:  Target (Kids) (Similar here)
Tote:  Isabel and Ruben Toledo for Lane Bryant (Similar here)
What do you like to wear for running errands?

Dress Week 3: Cutouts and Polka Dots

This dress had me at hello.
Dress:  eShakti (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Sometimes clothes just speak to me, and in this case, the dress was yelling, "PICK ME! PICK ME!"  Okay, clothes talk to me a lot - it's a problem.  LOL

I love the cutout detail of this - it shows just enough midriff without making it the central focus.  It also gives the dress a modernity that blend really well with the 1950s shape and cut of the dress.

Necklace:  Torrid
Bracelets:  The Limited
The shape of this dress flatters curves.  The sweetheart neckline adds a bit of sex appeal which is perfectly balanced by the knee-length hem.

Rather than play up the inherent sweetness of this dress, I decided to give it a little bit of a more womanly feel while adding just the slightest touch of edge that I love.  The chain-link necklace mixed with the lace clutch is for me the perfect mix - all lady, but with a bit of attitude!  ;-D
Clutch:  Jason Wu for Target (Available on ebay here and here)
How would you style this dress?

P.S.  eShakti was kind enough to provide an exclusive promo code for you, my dear readers!  Use code 'stylecases' to save 10% off your order. This code can be combined with most other codes and offers, and it can be re-used as often as you want now through 5/11/2014.

Tickled Pink: Eyelet and Florals

Happy Friday, everyone!

It has been a crazy busy week, but today, I'm starting a new series on one of spring's biggest colors - PINK!

Skirt:  eShakti (No longer available; Similar here)
Blazer:  eShakti (No longer available on-line)
Sometimes I think pink gets a bad rap as being too saccharine.  There are so many shades of pink that I think it's possible to find a shade that fits your preference.  From girly to funky to edgy to classic, this stereotypically feminine color works well with any style.

The first look in this series includes my first purchases from eShakti.  I used the custom fit option on both this pencil skirt and coral-y pink eyelet blazer.

Shoes:  Prabal Gurung for Target
Clutch:  Target
Unfortunately, my first experience was not quite right, and both the jacket and skirt were a little too big.  The customer service at eShakti was phenomenal and they agreed to reimburse me with store credit for the costs of taking these pieces to a local tailor.  I had the sleeves and the body of the jacket taken in a bit and had the skirt shortened and taken in.  These tweaks make the outfit perfect, and I then used the store credit towards the purchases of this dress and this dress.  :-)

BEFORE
AFTER
I originally envisioned this outfit for evening and included it as part of a fantasy Valentine's Day look over at The Curvy Fashionista.  Unfortunately, I can't afford the clutch and shoes from that look, but I improvised by adding floral lace-up heels and a green pendant.
Necklace:  Express (old)
Longline Bra:  Bare Necessities (Available here)
Bracelets:  Express (old)
Ring:  Ixora Boutique (Available here)
Adding a simple black tank and swapping the clutch for a larger work satchel made this outfit work appropriate.

Satchel:  The Limited
Booties:  Target (Available here)
Bangles:  The Limited (Sold out on-line; may be available in stores)
Earrings:  Ixora Boutique (Sold out on-line)
Are you a fan of the color pink?

Into The Blue

Tonight, I'm bringing you my work look from yesterday.
Pants:  The Limited (Sold out on-line; Similar here and here)
I'm a huge fan of cobalt blue, and I especially love this color paired with white - it feels so fresh and crisp.  This combination also  reminds me a lot of both blue willow china and Moroccan tiles, which I've always loved.
Blazer:  The Limited (Similar here)
Blouse:  The Limited

I decided to play around with the multiple blue tones in the scarf by adding a navy top and heels to the cobalt pants.

Scarf:  The Limited (Sold out on-line; Similar here)
Bracelets:  Express, LOFT, eBay, Wet Seal, The Limited
Mixed bracelets help tie the look together.
Heels:  Target (Similar here)
Bag:  The Limited (old)
Do you ever mix your blue shades in the same look?

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Okay, I know it is not Sunday, but since I wore this outfit last Sunday, I thought the title was appropriate.
Dress:  Torrid (Similar here)
I live for maxi dresses in the spring and summer time.  They are super comfortable, and they have a feminine, bohemian ease that I can't help but gravitate towards.

This lace maxi was an early fall clearance purchase.  I had considered wearing it in the fall with motorcycle boots and a jacket, but I never got around to it.

Necklace:  The Limited (Sold out on-line; may be available in stores)
Sandals:  Target Kids' Dept. (old) (Similar here)
Bracelets:  Wet Seal (Available in set here)
Last weekend, it was super bright and sunny, which made the temperatures feel a little warmer than they were.  A family brunch with the man and kiddos was a perfect opportunity to pull this out of the closet.

I added metallic sandals and accessories to complete this simple look.

Purse:  Target (Similar here)

Black for Spring: Straw and Spectacle Print

Today, I continue with my series on wearing black in the springtime.
Dress:  eShakti (Available here)
Here, a linen/cotton blend keeps the dress lightweight and easy.  Natural fabrics are a no-brainer in warm weather as they "breathe" better than synthetics.
Shoes:  Target (Similar here and here)
Straw accessories like this fedora, clutch, and wedge sandals are perfect for lounging in the sun.

The evil eye ring adds a tongue-in-cheek reference to the print of the dress.
The quirky spectacle print just has such a fun spring/summer feel!
Fedora:  Target (Available here)
Earrings:  Express
Clutch:  The Limited
Ring:  H&M
Again, eShakti gets it so right with this dress.  The print is unique, the color palette is easy, and thanks to the custom fit option, the fit is impeccable!  Also, like their other dresses, this dress has pockets!!!

I think I am slightly addicted.

Would you wear a spectacle print dress?
