Citrus and Art (Pop)

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hope the week has been treating you well!  I've been a busy bee with work and my son's birthday.  My son turned ten yesterday - double digits are hitting this mama a little hard! LOL

Earlier this week, I celebrated a warm day (it's cold again) with some spring touches to my work clothes.

Blouse:  eShakti (sold out on-line)
Satchel:  Target (Available here)
Jacket:  The Limited (old)
Pants:  The Limited (Similar here)
A lemon yellow faux leather jacket feels fresh and springy while the pop art print blouse is right on trend.  Pop art prints were big on spring runways, and I loved the pretty mix of colors on this blouse.

I recently nabbed this blouse from eShakti.  I've known about the site for some time, but never ordered anything from there.  I recently decided to take the plunge, and now I'm addicted!

EShakti offers custom fit clothes at a very reasonable price.  For curvy petites, this web site is a dream!  The first custom pieces I ordered were a little large, and eShakti actually reimbursed me with store credit for alterations costs at my local tailor!  Those pieces will be featured on the blog soon, but today I wanted to show off this top that I got with part of my credit.  The fit was perfect right out of the box!
Boots:  Target (Available here)
Bracelets:  Express, Target, Claire's
Earrings:  World Market (old)

Dress Week 2: Modern Fit-and-Flare

Dress Week 2 starts today with this fun printed fit-and-flare dress.  I am looking forward to wearing this dress with sandals in the summer, but I winterized it here with a faux leather jacket and warm tights and boots.
Dress:  The Limited (Sold out on-line; may be available in stores)
Jacket:  Target (Available here)
Purse:  Target
It can be hard to wear jackets with fit-and-flare dresses.  I usually feel like I lose my shape in such styles when I add a jacket.  This peplum jacket is great because it follows the contours of my shape and the dress.

As is usually the case with my clothes, both this dress and jacket required alterations.  I've featured this jacket here on the blog already a few times (here and here).  Outside of the sleeves being too long, the overall fit was not too bad before, but I opted to have the jacket taken in under the arms and to have the sleeves slimmed a bit for a more streamlined fit.  The jacket has stretchy side panels, which make the effects of the alterations a little hard to see; however, I did notice a difference in overall fit.
I lost some of the blue fabric at the bottom of the dress; however, I actually think the block of blue is now more proportionate for my petite frame.  The blue felt a little overwhelming before, but now I quite like it.

While the dress has an oversized lace print, it looks like a modern tribal print to me, so I added a white howlite necklace and my citrine/zebra bag to keep that feeling.

Necklace:  eBay (Similar here)
Tights:  The Limited (old)
I've really been into exploring more prints lately.  I am so fickle with prints that I'm often overly cautious about purchasing printed pieces because I'm afraid I will grow tired of them too quickly.  While they don't have the staying power of solids, prints certainly make a wardrobe more interesting and fun.
Boots: Payless (old)
Do you prefer to wear solids or prints?  Are you a fan of fit-and-flare styles?

Denim Week 2: Weekend Edge

Hi everyone!  Today marks the start of Denim Week 2!  If you missed my first Denim Week, you can check out the looks here, here, and here.

This denim look was a recent weekend outfit.  I wore it out for a casual dinner with the family.
Jeans:  The Limited (Similar here)
Jacket:  The Limited (old)
I haven't featured a flats look as of late, and I decided it was time to give my poor abused feet some rest.  The studded flats add a little edge to the outfit, and I've always been of a fan of black and grey mixed with red.
Tote:  The Limited (old)
Flats:  Target (Similar here)
Blouse:  The Limited (old)
For the longest time, I didn't like grey jeans - I saw them as faded black jeans, and they reminded me of old outdated jeans from childhood.  Over the last year or so, they started to grow on me to the point that I decided to try a pair.  Guess what?  I love them!
Ring:  The Limited

Hello Yellow

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Skirt: Target (Available here)
Jacket:  The Limited (Available here)
For work yesterday, I had fun styling my A-line print skirt with a black bow-front blouse and citrine yellow faux leather jacket.
Blouse:  Old Navy (old)
Necklace:  Express (old)
I love how the yellow jacket brings out the hints of yellow in the skirt.
Bag:  The Limited (old)
Earrings:  The Limited (Available here)
The bow-front blouse and hemline is conservative enough for the office, but the print of the skirt and strappy heels gives the look a more youthful edge.
Shoes:  Target (old)
I'm actually considering hemming this skirt.  Sometimes, it takes a few wears of a garment before I decide it needs alterations.  Due to the volume of this skirt, I think cutting off an inch or so would be more proportionate.

What do you think?  Do you get many clothing items altered?  How do you decide the "best" fit?

Purse:  The Limited (old)

I love this outfit!  It's my favorite color combo; the top has a great graphic print; and I can't get enough faux leather lately!
Heels:  Target (old)
Necklace (worn as bracelet):  Target

These Boots Were Made for Walkin'

Hi everyone!  Hope you all had a great day!
Skirt:  Target (Available here)
Blazer:  New York & Company
Today was still a little chilly in my area, but I finally decided it was time to skip tights!!!  I went with my knee-high boots for warmth, but it was so freeing to be able to wear a skirt without tights!!!

Tights can be fun, but I get lazy and find them to be too much work sometimes.

Tank:  Old Navy Petites (Available here)
Boots:  Payless (old)
Tote:  The Limited
I paired my boots with a brocade A-line skirt and simple tank and blazer.  The tank was a little low-cut for work, so I added the scarf for coverage and a little extra warmth during the work day.
Scarf:  Paul Smith (15+ years old)
Earrings:  The Limited (Similar here)
Removing the scarf makes the outfit perfect for transitioning to dinner or drinks after work.
Ring:  Purchased at local jewelry show
Howlite necklace:  eBay
(Similar here)
Do you like wearing boots?  Do you prefer bare legs or tights/pantyhose?

Because We Can - Bon Jovi :-D

Last night, the man and I went to a Bon Jovi concert.
Tie-dye jeans:  Torrid (Available here)
Jacket:  The Limited (Available in ivory here)
I wanted a casual look with a bit of an 1980s vibe.  The neon yellow stilettos and neon pink shirt gave a nod to all the fluorescent colors of the 80s without looking like a costume.
Blouse:  The Limited (old)
Shoes:  Target (Available here)
Earrings:  Prabal Gurung for Target (Available in stores; see here)
The concert was amazing!  We had great seats (10th row).  The music was wonderful, and Jon Bon Jovi is as sexy as ever!  :-D

Today, I paired a citron blouse and faux leather jacket with basic grey work trousers for an outfit that felt cheerful but a bit subdued.
Yellow Bangles:  Express (Similar here) and silver bangles:  The Limited
Ring:  Purchased at flea market
Pants:  The Limited (Available here)
Shoes:  Target (old)
